MSHSL volleyball: Caledonia moves to section semifinals with quarterfinal win

ROCHESTER — The Caledonia High School volleyball is on to the MSHSL Section 1AA semifinal round and taking care of ninth-seeded Dover-Eyota on Monday.

The top-seeded Warriors (25-5) eliminated the Eagles (19-11) by scores of 25-17, 12-25, 25-14, 25-23 in a quarterfinal at the Rochester Mayo Civic Arena. Up next is the semifinal matchup with fourth-seeded Winona Cotter (25-7) in a 6 p.m. start at the Civic Arena on Thursday.

Caledonia beat Cotter in four sets during the regular season. The winner advances to the championship match at 10 a.m. in the same venue Saturday.

Freshman Ashlyn Reinhart produced a team-high seven kills to go with 10 digs, one block and one service ace for the Warriors, who are ranked fifth in Class AA by the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association.

Juniors Adrienne Lange and Elsa Blum had six kills each, and Blum added a team-high 16 digs, 1.5 blocks and one ace. Lange had two blocks.

Junior Avery Augedahl led Caledonia in assists with 27 and pitched in with six digs, while junior Paizley Lange also had six kills to go with six digs and a team-high five blocks.

Senior Kenzie King added three kills, four blocks and two digs.
