Friday football report (large schools): Onalaska, Logan pick up one-sided victories

ONALASKA — The Onalaska High School football team won its fourth straight game with a 41-0 victory over visiting Tomah on Friday.

The Hilltoppers (6-2, 4-2) used a 21-point second quarter for a 27-0 halftime lead and never looked back against the Timberwolves (1-7, 1-5), who lost their fifth game in a row.

Junior Kaeson Stettler carried 17 times for 138 yards and two touchdowns for Onalaska, which had 254 rushing yards and 377 total yards.

Senior quarterback Ian Kowal completed 9 of 12 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns. One of those was to Stettler and the other to senior Tanner Siebert.

The Onalaska defense allowed 80 total yards, and Tomah quarterback Quinn Gerke’s four completed passes only produced 15 yards.

Stettler caught a 7-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, ran 4 yards for another touchdown in the second quarter and broke free for a 22-yard scoring run in the third quarter.

Hudson Smith and Carson Zinnecker also rushed for touchdowns for the Hilltoppers, who play first-place Central (6-2, 6-0) at UW-La Crosse’s Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex to close out the regular season next week.

Logan 49, Baraboo 7

BARABOO — Senior Maxim Roberts carried 12 times for 152 yards and scored two touchdowns for the Rangers (6-2, 4-2), who close out their regular season by hosting Holmen (7-1, 5-1) next week.

Roberts had a 2-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and a 38-yarder in the second as Logan built a 37-0 halftime lead.

Sophomore quarterback Tommy Check, who had a 35-yard touchdown run, completed a 68-yard touchdown pass to senior Andrew Stanton in the first quarter, and Stanton added Logan’s third touchdown of the first by returning an interception 41 yards for a touchdown.

The Thunderbirds (0-8, 0-6) didn’t score until the fourth quarter and finished with 181 yards of total offense.

Jackson Bosch and Onesimus West added second-half touchdowns for the Rangers, who take a two-game winning streak into their game against the Vikings.
