Thursday boys soccer report: Onalaska shuts out Central behind Simioni hat trick

ONALASKA — The Onalaska High School boys soccer team exploded for five goals in the second half to beat visiting Central 6-0 in an MVC round-robin tournament match on Thursday.

Lucas Simioni had a hat trick and assisted on two other goals for the Hilltoppers (5-8-5 overall, 4-2-3 MVC), who won for the first time since a Sept. 16 victory over Aquinas.

Simioni set up Donovan Lucksted for the first-half goal in the eighth minute, then scored the first two goals of the second half in the same minute. Champion Gowey set up Simioni for the first goal in the 61st minute, and Aiden Hoff settled a goal kick for Simioni for another quick goal and 3-0 lead.

Hoff scored the fourth goal with an assist from Riley Gansen in the 71st.

Simioni assisted on a Lucksted goal in the 79th, then completed his hat trick unassisted in the 80th to complete the shutout.
