Saturday volleyball report: Holmen wins invitational in Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE — The Holmen High School volleyball team won the Old Abe Invitational hosted by Eau Claire Memorial on Saturday.

The Vikings, who are unbeaten and ranked sixth in Division 1 by the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association, beat St. Ambrose Academy, Altoona and Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran to advance to a championship match against Marshfield.

Holmen then handed it a 25-13, 25-13 defeat for the title.

Senior Hadley Teff had eight kills with no errors and two blocks against Marshfield. Seniors Charley Casey and Brenna Schmidt each added four kills for the Vikings, who received eight digs and five aces from senior Macy Kline and 13 assists from senior Makenna McHugh.

Aquinas Invitational

LA CROSSE — The Blugolds split four matches and were eliminated from the Gold Bracket by Stanley-Boyd.

Aquinas beat Nekoosa and Ellsworth in two sets and lost to Onalaska Luther in three sets and Stanley-Boyd in two.
