Friday night football report (small schools): Caledonia, Onalaska Luther post one-sided victories

RANDOLPH — The Caledonia High School football team picked up its third straight victory and posted its second shutout in three weeks with a 34-0 nonconference victory over Randolph on Friday.

The Warriors (4-2), who have beaten their past three opponents by a combined score of 84-15 after losing two of their first three games, are two games behind first-place Chatfield (5-0) in the Yellow Division of the Southeast Central Conference and host the Gophers next Friday.

Caledonia scored at least once in every quarter, and senior Will Allen completed 10 of 17 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns.

Allen also rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown during a 324-yard performance for the offense.

Sophomore Grant King had seven catches for 84 yards and two touchdowns, and Tyson Ginther and Brodie Knutson each intercepted a Randolph pass.

Cooper Allen and Knutson led the team with 11 and 10 tackles, respectively.

Onalaska Luther 48, Viroqua 8

ONALASKA — The Knights (3-4, 3-2) bumped their conference record over .500 and scored all of their points in the first three quarters.

Junior Logan Pierce carried six times for 121 yards and two touchdowns and returned an interception for another score. Senior Ayden Livingston added a pair of touchdown runs for Luther, which held the Blackhawks (0-7, 0-5) to 121 total yards.

Junior quarterback Jonny Holub threw a touchdown pass to junior Trent Berg, and the Knights finished with 208 rushing yards. Junior Peter Sobolik also had an interception for Luther.

Belmont 36, De Soto 28 (OT)

BELMONT — The Pirates (4-2, 4-2) used a 16-point third quarter to turn a 14-12 deficit into a 28-14 lead, but the Braves came back for the victory.

Senior quarterback Finn Wrobel provided the third-quarter points with a 31-yard TD pass to senior Bryce Schultz and a 30-yarder to senior Austin DeFlorian.

DeFlorian finished with 56 rushing yards, 45 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Wrobel threw three scoring passes and completed a 9-yarder to Griffin Hanson in the second quarter.

Wrobel followed the third-quarter TD pass to Schultz with a conversion run and the one to DeFlorian with a conversion pass to Schultz.

Melrose-Mindoro 34, Augusta 6

AUGUSTA — Junior Isaiah Kleinsmith scored two touchdowns for the Mustangs (5-2, 3-2), who won their second straight Dairyland Conference game.

Arcadia 44, Black River Falls 26

ARCADIA — The Raiders (5-2, 3-2) won their second game in a row.
