VIROQUA — The Onalaska High School girls golf team placed second in the season standings and in the MVC championship meet that was held Wednesday at Viroqua Hills Golf Course.
The Hilltoppers shot a collective score of 360 and were only beaten by Tomah (337), and their season score of 60 is also second to the Timberwolves (72), who won every conference meet.
Onalaska sophomore Finley Schams placed third in Wednesday’s 18-hole meet with a 13-over-par 85, and senior teammate Sydney Kranig added an 88 to finish fifth in a competition won by Tomah senior Karma Hasselberger’s 6-over 78. Tomah sophomore Kaydence Hasselberger was second (84).
Senior Rickie Tillotson was seventh with a 91 for the Hilltoppers, and junior teammate Becka Mohr was 10th (96) to give Onalaska its final scoring round.
Holmen was third in the championship meet with a 410 and led by junior Emily Napiecek’s 98. Freshman Serena Mather shot a 100, senior Teagan Nelson a 101 and junior Kaydence Roth a 111 for the Vikings.
Aquinas was fourth (419) and Central/Logan fifth (434).
Senior Molly Swift placed ninth and shot the low round for the Blugolds with a 92. Junior Gabriella Stratman added a 99, senior Lucy Reyerson a 108 and senior Hayden Zehren a 120.
The co-op was topped by senior Elena Wagner’s 98 and junior Abby Wurm’s 105. Senior Jaymeson Buxton (113) and senior Emma Roesler’s 118 helped the team complete its score.
