LA CROSSE — The Holmen High School ASL soccer team scored its first goal in a matter of seconds and used a strong first half to beat Central 8-5 at Central High School on Tuesday.
The Vikings pushed their record to 3-0 and beat the RiverHawks for a second time.
Holmen took a 4-2 lead to the second half after scoring the first four goals. Kian Carlisle and Aiden Romskog each scored twice for the Vikings in the first 10 minutes.
Andrew Bell scored once and Jett Lewis twice to help the Vikings start to pull away, but Central scored three times in the second half to hang in the game. Kai Rice scored Holmen’s final goal.
Senior Dominic Dolan scored three goals and senior Callie Reinhard two for the RiverHawks, who moved the ball better as the game continued. Reinhard, Dolan and senior Jabari Roberson keyed that ball movement for Central.
Gabe Schams stepped in to play goalkeeper for Holmen and contributed both by blocking shots and getting out of the box to clear the ball.
Connor Siverhus made his debut for Holmen and was a factor both offensively and defensively, while Rice added to his goal by playing solid defense. Jack Teagan joined Siverhus and Rice as players who made their presence known both on offense and defense.
West Salem 6, Black River Falls 3
BLACK RIVER FALLS — Cam Arndt scored once and Lexi Bell twice for the Panthers early as they set the tone after what Ashly Serres called an energetic bus ride.
Levi Wulf and Arndt shared time at goalkeeper, and Wulf scored when he had the chance to play offense. Neven P.G. and Luci Bakke also scored goals for West Salem, which used solid teamwork to find the net.
Arndt made some impressive stops in goal, and Bentlee Cleveland used his hustle and determination to help the Panthers on the attack.
