HOLMEN — The Holmen High School boys soccer team bounced back from a loss to first-place Arcadia two days ago and scored three second-half goals to beat visiting Logan in an MVC matchup on Thursday.

The second-place Vikings (4-5-1 overall, 4-1 MVC) pulled away after a scoreless first half with goals from senior Jonah Degner, senior Brandon Yang and junior Shae Hoffman to take care of the Rangers (1-6, 1-5), who played without either of their two seniors and were missing three players in the game.

Freshman Charlie Mackeben assisted on Hoffman’s goal to make the score 3-0.

Logan received 17 saves from goalkeeper Parker Stevermer and put three of its four shots on goal. Brecken Jackson also made a big defensive play with a goal-line clearance before the Vikings scored any of their goals.

Aquinas 5, Sparta 1

LA CROSSE — The Blugolds (4-5, 2-4) got back on the conference winning track by taking care of the Spartans at Fields for Kids.

Senior Harry Griffith and junior Jonny Woolever each scored twice for Aquinas, which also received a goal from senior Cal Smith.

Smith and Griffith also had one assist each, and junior teammate Connor Benz added two.

Onalaska 0, Marshfield 0

ONALASKA — The Hilltoppers (4-4-4) and Tigers went scoreless.

In a game without many good scoring opportunities, Onalaska had more of them but just couldn’t convert.
