ARCADIA — The Arcadia High School boys soccer team had to score twice while facing deficits, then buried the last three goals for a big 5-2 MVC victory over visiting Holmen on Tuesday.
Christopher Urbina helped the Raiders (11-0-1 overall, 4-0 MVC) pull away from a 3-2 halftime lead with two second-half goals.
The Vikings (3-5-1, 3-1) took a 1-0 lead when junior Deacon Vang scored with an assist from junior Apollo de la Rosa and a 2-1 advantage when junior Shae Hoffman scored with an assist from junior Triton Gomez.
Urbina, who tied the score at 1, then assisted on a goal by Ony Zaragoza to tie it at 2 before scoring unassisted before the half ended for the 3-2 lead. He finished with four goals for the Raiders, who took over first place in the MVC after being ranked seventh in Division 4 by state coaches this week.
Onalaska 5, Aquinas 1
ONALASKA — All of the scoring was done in the second half as the Hilltoppers (4-4-3, 3-0-2) quickly pulled away from the Blugolds (3-5, 1-4).
Onalaska scored all of its goals in a 20-minute span, and the run began with a pair of scores from Donovan Lucksted. He opened with a penalty kick in the 51st minute, then put another ball in the net 4 minutes later when he took a pass from David Chiquito in the right channel and crossed the ball over the keeper’s head.
Ben Hauser set up Lucas Simoni for a tap-in goal in the 56th minute, and Eden Ascencio-Urtiz curled pass from Samuel Thao at the 18 line to the far right post. Simoni scored his second goal to give the Hilltoppers a 5-0 lead unassisted in the 70th minute.
Harry Griffith scored unassisted on a free kick in the 71st minute for Aquinas.
Central 3, Logan 1
LA CROSSE — The RiverHawks (2-5-1, 1-2-1) scored the last two goals after the Rangers (1-5, 1-4) tied the score at 1 in the second half at Fields for Kids.
Payton Novak, who is the only senior playing for Logan after an injury on Tuesday, scored the only goal for the Rangers, who had nine shots on goal and five corner kicks.
Central put 11 of its 18 shots on goal and had three corners.
