HOLMEN — Onalaska Luther High School senior Emma Kolb was challenged before recording a 6-1, 7-5 win over Holmen senior Parc Tande during the No. 1 singles match of a 7-0 nonconference victory on Monday.
The Knight won five matches in straight sets and two in tiebreaks, but Tande pushed the two-time WIAA state qualifier hard in the second set before Kolb came back for the win. Tande built leads of 4-1 and 5-2, but Kolb (16-1) found her groove to close out the match and win for the 16th time in 17 matches.
Luther’s No 1 singles team of Kenzie Olson and Keira Paus improved to 13-4 by winning in two sets at No. 1 doubles, and its team of Grace Beyer and Shelby Erdmann to 12-5 at No. 2 doubles by outlasting their opponents 4-6, 6-0, 10-8.
