MEDFORD — The Holmen High School football team got off to a quick start and turned it into a 55-16 nonconference victory at Medford on Friday.
The Vikings (1-0) scored seven touchdowns in the first half and began a new season with a touchdown pass.
Senior Jack Barth touched the ball 8 times with 6 carries and 2 receptions, and those plays resulted in 214 total yards and 4 touchdowns to lead the way.
Barth rushed for 180 yards and scored on runs of 80, 43 and 23 yards. He also caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from senior Colin Williams for the first score of the game.
Senior Eli Kane added 138 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns on 17 carries as his team rushed for 333 yards. Kane scored on runs of 19, 47 and 24 yards. Senior AJ Alesch added a 4-yard touchdown run for the Vikings, who held the Raiders to 3 passing yards on 1 completion and 198 total yards.
Aquinas 22, Prairie du Chien 0
PRAIRIE DU CHIEN — Senior Marcus Klar rushed for two touchdowns, and senior Ryan Johnson completed 16 of 19 passes for 179 yards and rushed 8 times for 33 yards and a touchdown for the Blugolds.
Senior Logan Becker caught 5 passes for 48 yards as Aquinas (1-0) shut out the Blackhawks. Brady Lee added 4 catches for a team-high 69 yards.
The Blugolds scored 14 points in the first half and added their final touchdown in the third quarter.
Blair-Taylor 25, Onalaska Luther 22
ONALASKA — The Knights (0-1) allowed the Wildcats to score the final 13 points after building a lead.
Quarterback Jonny Holub’s 49-yard touchdown pass to Zach Luehmann gave Luther a 22-12 lead in the third quarter before Kole Trapp threw two touchdown passes for Blair-Taylor.
Holub completed 9 of 19 passes for 170 yards and 2 touchdowns but he was intercepted 3 times. His top targets were Logan Pierce, who finished with 2 catches for 49 yards, and Luehmann, who had the 49-yard TD catch.
Pierce had an 11-yard reception for a touchdown, and Jax Hendrickson led the Knights with 78 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Sam Schmeling led Luther with 14 total tackles, while Pierce and Hendrickson added 13 apiece and Luehmann 12.
