CALEDONIA — The Caledonia High School baseball team remained alive in the winner’s bracket of the MSHSL Section 1AA tournament on Saturday with an 8-0 victory over visiting and fifth-seeded Randolph.
Shortstop Tyson Ginther drove in three runs and Reid Klug pitched a five-hit shutout for the fourth-seeded Warriors (16-6), who play top-seeded Cannon Falls in a 3 p.m. game Monday at Hudson Field in Rochester.
Klug struck out six, walked six and allowed five singles in a game that included a six-run second inning by Caledonia.
The Warriors had three walks and three hits during their big six-run second, and all runs scored after the second out was made.
The first two runs scored on wild pitches, and Tanner Ginther brought home the next two on a single to left field. Tyson Ginther then followed that with a two-run single to right field.
Tanner Ginther, who played second base, was 3 for 4 with a double to go with the two RBIs, and Tyson Ginther was 2 for 4 and added a stolen base to his two RBIs.
Left fielder Jack Schmitz and first baseman Garrett Konz also had two hits each for Caledonia.
