WHITEHALL — The Melrose-Mindoro High School track and field team received a second-place finish from its boys and fourth-place finish from its girls at the Dairyland Conference meet on Thursday.
The Mustangs scored 99.5 points in boys events, and senior Isaiah Erickson won the discus (144 feet).
Senior Aeron Hanson had a hand in two second-place and one third-place finish for Melrose-Mindoro. He was second in the 300-meter hurdles (45.21) and ran one leg for the runner-up 1,600 relay that was timed at 3:42.22. Collin Christianson, Trajan McRoberts and Jackson Boese also ran with that team.
Hanson also ran with Wyatt Moser, Caleb Arneson and Jayden Janzen on the third-place 3,200 relay (9:38.18).
Senior Landon Windsor was also second in the long jump (20-0.5) and ran with Rawlins Clark, Christianson and Brooks Cowley on the third-place 800 relay (1:39.45).
Christianson added to his relay performances with a third place in the pole vault (11-6), and McRoberts to his with third place in the 400 (54.88).
Melrose-Mindoro’s girls scored 81 points and were led by sophomore Bristol Coates.
Coats was in the top three in four events, and she was second in three of them. Coates was runner-up in the 100 (12.98), 200 (27.45) and 300 hurdles (50.05). She was also third in the long jump (16-4.5).
Sophomore Sheila Johnson and senior Isabella Libke walked away as individual champions.
Johnson won the high jump (5-1) and Libke the pole vault (8-9).
