Monday golf report: Aquinas, West Salem boys place second in conference meets

SPARTA — Aquinas High School sophomore Michael Jones and Central/Logan sophomore Sid Hooyman were part of a four-way tie for medalist honors, but there was no stopping Sparta in an MVC meet at River Run Golf Course on Monday.

Jones and Hooyman shots 3-over-par 75s to tie Sparta’s John Schanhofer and Ryder Erickson on a day that included a team championship for the Spartans.

Onalaska finished fourth with a 325 and Central/Logan fifth at 351. The Hilltoppers were led by ninth-place freshman Rylan Tomashek and senior John Werwinski (80). Holmen junior Braylan Welch was also part of that tie at 80.
