ONALASKA — The Holmen High School boys golf team placed sixth in a field of 19 teams during the Viking Invitational at The Golf Club at Cedar Creek on Wednesday.
The Vikings shot a team score of 331 in a team topped by Waunakee (318), River Falls (326) and Monona Grove (326). Onalaska finished eighth at 338, Aquinas 11th at 342 and Central/Logan 14th at 353.
Holmen senior Spencer Gault was the low individual among locals with a third-place finish and 18-hole round of 4-over-par 75. He birdied No. 14 and shot par on every hole of the front nine.
Central/Logan sophomore Sid Hooyman tied for fifth place with a 77, and Onalaska freshman Colten Schroeder tied for 12th with an 80. Holmen also received an 82, which tied him for 19th in a group that also included Aquinas sophomore Michael Jones. Aquinas freshman James Siegert shot an 83.
Milton sophomore Kade Wieland and Monona Grove senior Sean Clark tied for medalist honors with rounds of 1-over 72.

GALESVILLE — The Hilltoppers (9-3) gave up one run in the third inning and another in the fifth to have a six-game winning streak snapped by the top team in the Coulee Conference.
Sophomore catcher Lauren Pica went 2 for 2 and drew a walk for Onalaska, which had five hits. Pica doubled twice, and freshman right fielder MJ Heit tripled.
Freshman Sydney Kraus pitched a complete game and struck out 12 while allowing two earned runs on four hits and three walks.
