Tuesday track and field report: Onalaska’s Mauss, Gutierrez win three events at Onalaska Open

ONALASKA — Onalaska High School senior Manny Putz ran one leg for the winning 1,600-meter relay team at the Onalaska Open on Tuesday.

Putz, a University of Wisconsin commit, competed with Luke Siegel, Cooper Hegge and Aiden Hoff for a time of 3 minutes, 40.58 seconds in his only event of the day.

Sophomore Gabe Mauss led the Hilltoppers — and everyone in the boys competition — with three victories. Mauss won the 100 (11.32), 200 (23.69) and long jump (22 feet, 11.75 inches). Sophomore teammate Brendan Chenault added victories in the 400 (51.49) and triple jump (40-9).

West Salem sophomore Jack Torrance swept the hurdles events with a time of 15.9 in the 110s and 44.47 in the 300s. Teammates Jackson Williams, Jayden Hansen, Jackson Seberg and Cade Donahue teamed up for wins in both the 400 relay (44.63) and 800 relay (1:33.7).

West Salem’s Carter Quackenbush won the 800 (2:08.17), West Salem’s Andrew Lorenz the 1,600 (4:44.2) and Holmen’s Matthew Hoff the 3,200 (9:46.81).

Holmen’s Mason Moss, Brennan Schloegel, August Stoltz and Tyler Mossman won he 3,200 relay.

Onalaska’s Wylder Burch won the high jump (6-0), Luther’s Jack Schmeling the shot put (51-6), West Salem’s Isaiah Laack the discus (153-9) and Central’s Milo Mach the pole vault (12-0).

Senior Isabela Gutierrez had a hand in three victories for Onalaska’s girls. Gutierrez won the 200 (27.39), 400 (1:01.27) and ran with Eva Dryer, Lauren Denker and Ella Stevens on the winning 1,600 relay (4:15.02).

Denker also ran with Ava Sen, Ilyanna Martinez and Finley Rudie on the winning 800 relay (1:55.95), and Stevens won the long jump (16-8.5).

Holmen’s Alivia Wickstrom won the 100 hurdles (16.31) and 300 hurdles (47.42).

Onalaska’s Makena McGarry won the 100 (12.44), Holmen’s Sabrina Lechnir the 800 (2:23.46), West Salem’s Elise Flock the 1,600 (5:38.28) and West Salem’s Mia Olson the 3,200 (11:34.74).

The Aquinas team of Alaina Elias, Samantha Davis, Teagan Boge and Emily Lepak won the 400 relay (51.79), and Luther’s group of Olivia Gregas, Isabel Bohme, Kendyll Baldner and Hailey Jacobson won the 3,200 relay (11:28.89).

Luther’s Jacee Erickson, Onalaska’s Olivia Peterson and Holmen’s Kendall Kozlowski tied for the win in the pole vault (9-6), and Onalaska’s Kendall Carlson and Isabella Malecek tied for the top height in the high jump (5-4).

Onalaska’s Rickie Tillotson won the triple jump (44-0.25), Holmen’s Brenna Schmidt the shot put (38-5.5) and Aquinas’ Eliot McKnight the discus (129-6).

St. Charles Invitational

ST. CHARLES — Caledonia/Spring Grove placed second in boys and girls competition.

Senior Fischer Wait won the 100 (11.51) and 400 (50.68) in the boys competition, and Eli Staggemeyer was second in the 200 (23.76) and fourth in the 100 (11.76).

Juniors Nicole Banse and Chloe Lange had a big night for the girls, teaming up with Kamrin Thies and Sienna Augedahl to win the 800 relay in a time of 1:50.76.

Banse was also second in the 400 (1:02.15) and fifth in the long jump (14-11.5). Lange added fourth-place finishes in the 100 (13.84) and 200 (27.89), and teammate Jessie Stendel placed fourth in the discus (93-7).
