TODD SOMMERFELDT

LA CROSSE — The West Salem High School girls soccer team used a second-half goal to knock off Central 1-0 in an MVC game between conference unbeatens at Fields for Kids on Tuesday.

Junior forward Emily Graham scored in the 88th minute to give the Panthers (5-1, 2-0) a second significant conference victory after their 3-1 victory over Onalaska last week.

Junior Baylee Faucett had seven saves for West Salem, which became the first team to beat the RiverHawks (4-1-1, 2-1-0) this season. Senior Laura Lapp had four saves in goal for Central.

Onalaska 2, Holmen 0

ONALASKA — The Hilltoppers (4-2, 3-1) scored twice in the first half to beat the Vikings (2-1-1, 1-1-0).

Junior Isabella Cromheecke got things started with an assist from Finley Walters, and freshman Sophia Cromheecke connected unassisted several minutes later. Both goals were from long distance and went over the hands of the leaping goalkeeper.

Avery Cowley made 10 saves in completing the shutout for Onalaska, and Moira Linse stopped seven shots for Holmen.

Tomah 1, Aquinas 0

LA CROSSE — The Timberwolves (3-2-0) were on the short end of shots and shots on goal but found a way to beat the Blugolds (4-1-0) at Fields for Kids.

Bayley Winrich scored the only goal in a game that included 15 shots — seven on goal — for Aquinas. Tomah put five of 10 shots on goal.

Sparta 2, Logan/Luther 0

SPARTA — The Spartans scored once in each half to beat the visiting Rangers (3-4, 0-3), who were looking for their second straight victory.
