APPLETON — Sophomore Bubba Leaver and senior Jacob Hackbarth combined to score 24 second-half points, but they weren’t enough to bring the Logan High School boys basketball team back from an 18-point halftime deficit as it played at Fox Valley Lutheran in a WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinal on Tuesday.
The sixth-seeded Foxes (16-9) made seven first-half 3-pointers to build their lead, then withstood Leaver and Hackbarth on the way to a 73-59 victory over the 11th-seeded Rangers, who finish the season with a 7-18 record.
That means Fox Valley Lutheran will travel to third-seeded West Salem (17-6) for a semifinal matchup on Friday.
Leaver finished with a team-high 21 points and Hackbarth with 17. Leaver made three 3-pointers, and freshman Tommy Check made one on his way to nine points for Logan.
