MVC gymnastics: Holmen wins team title, Onalaska/Luther’s Dryer second all-around

SPARTA — The Holmen High School gymnastics team put together a score of 138.35 to win an MVC meet hosted by Sparta on Thursday.

The Vikings had two of the top four competitors in the all-around, and Mina Hawkins won the floor exercise with a score of 9.6 to beat all-around champion Gabrielle Bjorkman of Sparta (9.55).

Katie Lange placed third in the all-around (34.625), and Molly McBride was fourth all-around (34.55) for Holmen, which has won all of the conference meets this season. Bjorkman finished with an all-around score of 37.55, and Onalaska/Luther’s Eva Dryer was second (35.75).

Dryer was second on the vault (8.9), third on the balance beam (8.85), fourth on the floor exercise (9.15) and fifth on the uneven bars (8.85).

Lange was second on the uneven bars (9.1) and third on the floor exercise (9.5) and vault (8.5). McBride was fourth on the vault (8.45) and fifth on the balance beam (8.65).

Onalaska/Luther’s Marlie Krause was second on the balance beam (8.925) and Holmen’s Nadia Trapnell fourth on the uneven bars (8.95). Holmen’s Carly Nelson was also fourth on the balance beam (8.675).

Elena Wagner led the Logan/Central team with a sixth-place finish all-around (33.75). She was fifth on the vault (8.425).
