WEST SALEM — The Onalaska/La Crosse co-op boys hockey team scored in every period and held off a West Salem/Bangor comeback for a nonconference victory at the Panther Den on Thursday.
The Hilltoppers scored twice in the first and second periods, then added an empty-net goal in the final minute to post a 5-3 win over the Panthers.
Sophomore Grayson Andel had one goal and one assist for Onalaska/La Crosse, and senior Matt Tillman provided the comfort of victory by scoring the final goal after West Salem/Bangor had turned a 4-0 deficit into 4-3.
The Panthers (2-11) got back in the game on goals from junior Cade Donahue, senior Tyler Meyer and senior Josef Gasper. Gasper’s goal was on a power play, and it put West Salem/Bangor right back in the game with 2:47 left before Tillman’s empty-netter for the Hilltoppers (9-9), who have won three in a row and play at Baraboo/Portage on Tuesday.
Meyer’s goal was his team-high 10th of the season. Andel also scored his 10th goal and registered his 12th assist.
