WEST ALLIS — Junior Teghan Moore highlighted a runner-up finish for the West Salem/Bangor boys wrestling team by winning a 106-pound championship at the E.H. Stech Invitational on Saturday.
Moore (14-1) won his championship match by technical fall as the Catbirds finished with 207 points. Wisconsin Rapids won the team title with 243.
Moore won his quarterfinal match by pin before recording a 13-6 victory over Wisconsin Rapids’ Jackson Freeman (12-3) in the semifinal round. He then handed Brown Deer’s Anthony Strong an 18-2 defeat in the title match.
Caden Andersson (11-5) also reached the championship match in the 165 bracket, but he lost to Waterford’s Diego Torres and brought home second place.
Mason Chambers (13-4, 150) and Trevor Arentz (14-4, 190) both finished third for West Salem/Bangor, and Jackson Roesler (6-2, 132) and Jarett Plomedahl (9-7, 138) placed fourth.
Badger State Invitational
MADISON — Second-place Prairie du Chien scored 189 points to place second to Waunakee (218) at the Alliant Energy Center.
Logan/Central senior Jayden Delao (17-0) kept alive his unbeaten season as he won the championship at 190. Delao won twice by technical fall and became the first person to beat Lake Mills’ Owen Burling (15-1) in the finals. Delao beat Burling 7-2.
The Blackhawks had champions in Bryce Lenzendorf (14-3, 165) and Blake Thiry (15-2, 215) and second-place finishers in Hunter Reid (12-5, 120) and Jack Simmons (13-4, 285). Thiry pinned his way to the semifinals and won his final two matches by technical fall and major decision.
Richland Center Invitational
RICHLAND CENTER — G-E-T/Melrose-Mindoro placed second to Iowa-Grant/Highland with 294.5 points, and Tomah was eighth with 128.5. Iowa-Grant/Highland finished with 308.
Koda Purney (11-3, 120), Layne Fry (12-2, 138), Jayce Steltzer (12-2, 144), Gunnar Johnson (13-1, 157) and Braden Peterson (11-3, 175) all placed second for G-E-T/Melrose-Mindoro.
Blake Champlin (14-1, 106) and Cameron Finch (16-0, 150) both won for Tomah.
Auburndale Invitational
AUBURNDALE — Black River Falls scored 241 points and placed fifth in a field of 12 teams.
Peter McCormick (5-4) won three of four matches and placed second at 150 for the Tigers. Rylie Dobson (3-1) was also third at 157. Sullivan King (7-4, 215) and Keanau Goldsmith (5-4) added third-place finishes for Black River Falls.
Colton Koss (14-0) won at 126 and Aaron Dunigan (12-2) at 215 for the Titans, who had seven finalists.
Starmont Tournament
ARLINGTON, Iowa — De Soto was fourth out of 13 teams and put three in the finals.
Seth Greeno (15-0) pinned his way to the finals and had to match up with teammate Peyton Crager (11-2) with the championship on the line, but Crager had to forfeit the match due to an injury.
Kanoa Rodgers (11-5) also qualified for the finals at 126, but a pin there led to a runner-up finish.
