PRAIRIE DU SAC — The Central High School boys basketball team made six 3-pointers in the first half on the way to a 60-48 nonconference victory over Sauk Prairie on Thursday.
The RiverHawks (2-1) made seven 3s in the game but six of them came as they built a 34-18 halftime lead on the way to bouncing back from a loss to Marshfield. Central next hosts Menomonie on Tuesday.
Senior Frankie Wilks made 5 of 10 attempts from the 3-point line and scored a game-high 27 points to go with a game-high eight rebounds and two blocked shots. Sophomore Ezra Wiese added 12 points and four rebounds for Central, which held Sauk Prairie to 25.7-percent shooting (15 of 59).
Aquinas 82, La Crescent-Hokah 56
The Blugolds (4-0) won their first game at the Reinhart Athletic Complex comfortably and were ahead 45-23 by the end of the first half.
Sophomore Calvin Bahr scored a team-high 19 points and had 13 of those in the first half. Senior Brayden Young added 13 and senior Trey Bahr 12 for Aquinas, which hosts Prairie du Chien on Tuesday.
Junior Logan Becker made a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points for the Blugolds, who made 10 3s.
The Lancers (1-3) received at least two points from nine players and were led by Keaton Holter’s 12 and Leyton Johnson’s 10.
Logan 61, Mauston 44
MAUSTON — The Rangers (2-2) won their second straight game to even up their record and received a big night from senior Jacob Hackbarth in the process.
Hackbarth scored 29 points — he has scored 50 during the winning streak after getting 21 in Tuesday’s win over G-E-T — and Logan had a 23-0 run during the second half to break open the game.
Senior Bradley Check and sophomore Bubba Leaver scored eight points apiece for the Rangers, who will host River Falls on Tuesday.
Onalaska Luther 62, G-E-T 55
ONALASKA — The Knights (4-0, 2-0) stayed undefeated by winning what coach Dan Unke called a physical matchup with the Red Hawks (2-2, 0-1), who lost their second straight game.
Senior Will Huelskamp scored 20 points to go with nine rebounds for Luther, which also received 15 points and four steals from senior guard Jackson Kendall.
Senior Synclair Byus also had 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Knights, who outscored G-E-T by three points in the first half and four in the second.
The Red Hawks received three 3-pointers and a team-high 19 points from junior guard Mason Brone, who also had five assists. Brecken Ebersold added 13 points for G-E-T.
Arcadia 62, Westby 57
WESTBY — The Raiders (3-2, 2-0) won their third game in a row and are tied with Luther for first place in the Coulee Conference.
The Norsemen (1-4, 0-2) built a 19-point lead in the first half only to have Arcadia come back to continue its winning streak. Westby had six players score between six and 17 points, and sophomore Maddox Fencl made four 3-pointers on his way to the 17.
Griffin Nelson added nine points and Devin Nedland eight for Westby.
Arcadia cut its deficit to 12 points by halftime and tied the score when freshman Deklyn Grzadzielewski made a 3-pointer with 4 minutes remaining. The Raiders made enough free throws from there to pull out the victory.
Senior Kaiden Rotering scored 23 points and Grzadzielewski 22 for the Raiders, who go for a fourth straight win when they host Luther in a battle for undisputed first place on Tuesday.
