High school hockey, wrestling, gymnastics: Tomah/Sparta comes back to beat Onalaska/La Crosse boys hockey

TOMAH — The Tomah/Sparta co-op boys hockey team scored three times in the third period to score a 6-4 MVC victory over Onalaska/La Crosse at the Tomah Ice Center on Tuesday.

The Hilltoppers held a 42-33 advantage in shots and had a 4-3 lead after Grayson Andel scored two straight goals near the end of the second period. Assists from Parker Lycke and Matt Tillman allowed Andel to tie the score at 3 before Tillman set him up for a short-handed goal five minutes later.

Tomah/Sparta received goals from Collin Ritter, Parker Holloway and Blake Haun in the third to win the game. Haun assisted on Ritter’s goal, and Ritter assisted on Haun’s.

Tillman had three assists for Onalaska/La Crosse, and Clayton Kay and Sawyer Meyer added goals for the Hilltoppers.

Holloway’s goal in the third gave him a hat trick, and teammates Peter Boyko and Ritter each finished with one goal and two assists. Holloway, a senior, has nine goals and six assists this season for Tomah/Sparta.

Black River Falls co-op 8, West Salem/Bangor 6

BLACK RIVER FALLS — The Tigers scored at least twice in every period at the Milt Lunda Memorial Arena.

Junior Calvin Lakowske had four goals and two assists for Black River Falls, which also received a hat trick from senior Drew Apicella. Lakowske scored the first two goals of the game, and Apicella scored once in each period.

The Panthers were led by a four-goal performance from junior Terryn Boland. Boland scored twice in the third period to get West Salem/Bangor within 6-5, but Apicella and Lakowske answered with goals to push the lead to three.

Lincoln Rahzen had one goal and one assist, and Brayden Baures and Tyler Meyer had two assists each for the Panthers.

St. Paul Academy and Summit 6, La Crescent-Hokah 2

ST. PAUL — The Lancers were outshot 30-19 and scored once in the first period and once in the second.

Stepan Vent and Turner Boettcher scored for La Crescent-Hokah, and Archer Semling had an assist on each one.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Middleton 5, Viroqua co-op 1

VIROQUA — The Blackhawks (0-7) scored the first goal of the game when Charlie Brudos converted a pass from Willa Thurin at 5:40 of the first.

Viroqua then allowed two goals in the first and three in the second.

BOYS WRESTLING

Whitehall 45, Arcadia 31

WHITEHALL — The Norse won five matches via pin to beat the Raiders.

Adalberto Ortiz (157), Ony Zaragoza (113), Lsndon Pehler (120) and Matthew Badillo (150) all won by pin for Arcadia, while Luke Matejka (190), Caden Bacino Hansche (215), Frank Juresh IV (106), Kivin Juresh (126) and Cashton Kulig (138) all pinned their opponents for the Norse.

GYMNASTICS

Logan/Central 111.625, Bloomer 111.075

Elena Wagner had a 31.75 in the all-around to place third for the La Crosse co-op. Teammate Lauren Domroese was fourth with a 30.6 at Performance Elite Gymnastics.
Wagner won the floor exercise with an 8.325, and Domroese was second (8.05). Wagner was second (7.85) and Domroese third (7.625) on the bars.
