WINONA — The Holmen High School boys basketball team is 3-0 for the first time in 11 years after posting an 81-58 road victory over Winona on Saturday.
The Vikings, who have beaten Prescott, Wisconsin Rapids and the Winhawks to win their first three games for the first time since a 6-0 start in 2013-14, built a 17-point second-half advantage to pull away for the victory.
Senior Kaiden Wilber scored a game-high 22 points for Holmen, which also received 20 from senior Keenan Eisermann. The two combined to make 17 of 27 shots and 4 of 8 attempts from the 3-point line.
Eisermann was 3 for 4 from long range and led the team with six rebounds and six assists. Wilber had four rebounds and five steals.
Junior Alex Berget also made three 3-pointers, and he finished with 17 points and five steals.
Aquinas 83, Bangor 51
BANGOR — The Blugolds (2-0) controlled the Cardinals (0-3) from beginning to end and were led by senior Trey Bahr’s 20 points.
Bahr scored 14 in the first half and was the top scorer on a team that had nine players with at least two points.
Junior Logan Becker scored 10 of his 15 in the second half, and junior Fin Strom and sophomore Calvin Bahr added 10 points apiece. Seniors Brayden Young and Vincent Bahr each scored nine.
Seniors Brock Bores and Eli Tucker both scored 10 points to lead Bangor.
West Salem 87, New Richmond 79
NEW RICHMOND — The Panthers (3-0) made eight 3-pointers to beat the Tigers (1-2) in a big road game.
Senior Kyle Hehli scored a game-high 32 points and made 3 of 6 attempts from the 3-point line. He also had a team-high six assists and added six rebounds.
Senior Nathan Karr made 8 of 14 shots and added 22 points for West Salem, which also received a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds from senior Carter Pontius.
