VIROQUA — The West Salem High School girls basketball team got back on the winning track by picking up its Coulee Conference schedule on Tuesday.
The Panthers (4-1, 1-0) bounced back from a loss to Eau Claire Memorial to take control of the Blackhawks before claiming a 71-37 road victory.
Senior Megan Johnson and junior Josie Brudos scored 20 points apiece. Johnson made three 3-pointers and Brudos two in a game West Salem led 31-10 after one half.
Freshman Allyah Schwem scored a game-high 26 points for the Blackhawks (1-2, 0-1) with three 3-pointers and 19 of her points in the second half.
Senior Makena Ihle added nine points for the Panthers.
Onalaska Luther 51, Westby 26
WESTBY — Senior Macie Neumeister scored 13 points and made a 3-pointer for the Knights (2-1, 1-0), who won their second straight game and opened their conference season with a win. Senior Allie Zittel added nine points for Luther.
Erin Gluch and Ali Fortun scored seven points apiece to lead the Norsemen (1-2, 0-1).
Arcadia 56, Black River Falls 42
ARCADIA — The Raiders (3-1, 1-0) built a 19-point lead after one half and picked up a comfortable win over the Tigers (1-2, 0-1).
Sophomore Tatum Drazkowski scored nine of her 17 points in the first half, and sophomore Madison Grotjahn 10 of her 12 in the second half for Arcadia. Senior teammate Kaitlyn Bremer knocked down two second-half 3-pointers on her way to 10 points.
Black River Falls was led by Olivia Larkin’s 17 points, and Bella Falcon’s 12.
Logan 58, G-E-T 41
The Rangers (1-1) picked up their first win of the season after difficult nonconference matchups against Prairie du Chien and West Salem.
Eleven Logan players scored, and sophomore Lilly Dettwiler’s 12 points led the way. Sophomore Emma Bacon added three 3-pointers and nine points for the Rangers, who held the Red Hawks (0-4) to 16 first-half points.
Sophomore Ava Lightfoot made five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 20 points for G-E-T.
Platteville 51, Aquinas 42
PLATTEVILLE — The Blugolds (1-3) lost their third game in a row and faced an 11-point deficit by the end of the first half.
Junior Sammy Davis scored 15 points, and sophomore Olivia Passehl and senior Emma Dobbins added 12 each for Aquinas.
De Soto 64, North Crawford 32
DE SOTO — The Pirates (2-1, 1-0) won their Ridge and Valley Conference opener behind a big game from sophomore Kylee Venner.
Venner scored a game-high 29 points, and sophomore Sylvia Krueger added 12 for De Soto, which also received 11 points from sophomore Makenna Gilman in the one-sided victory.
Mauston 63, Sparta 39
SPARTA — The Spartans (2-2) were led by junior Elexa Jones, who made three 3-pointers and scored 14 points. Jones scored seven in each half, but Sparta faced a 32-17 halftime deficit.
Izzy Mickelson scored seven of her nine after halftime for Sparta, which had a two-game winning streak snapped.
Reedsburg 48, Tomah 38
TOMAH — Sophomore Avery Brohmer scored a team-high 12 points for the Timberwolves (0-3), who also received a seven-point performance from Brielle Plueger.
Royall 63, Alma Center Lincoln 57 (2 OT)
ELROY — The Panthers (1-2) held on in double overtime to pick up their first win of the season.
Junior Bria Gruen scored five of her 29 points after the teams tied at 49 after regulation, and Royall won a game it trailed by 14 points after one half.
Gruen scored 20 of her points in the second half, and sophomore Layla Marty made a 3-pointer and scored five points in extra time. Marty finished with 15 points.
