LA CROSSE — The Aquinas/Onalaska/West Salem co-operative boys and girls ski and snowboarding teams had a big day during a meet at Mt. La Crosse on Wednesday.

A/O/WS won all three boys giant slalom races, all three girls giant slalom races and swept the championship in boys snowboarding. Team scores were not kept for girls snowboarding.

Patrick Gundersen won two of the three boys races, and teammate Cullen Sackman the other.

Sackman won the first race with a time of 16.75 seconds, and Gundersen followed with winning times of 16.49 and 16.37. Gundersen was second in the first race (16.81), and Sackman was runner-up in the second and third races with respective times of 16.77 and 16.76.

Central/Logan’s Benedict Althoff was third in all three races with a 16.95 in the second as his fastest time. Central/Logan’s Cole Hasburgh was fourth once and fifth twice with a fast time of 18.18, and A/O/WS’s Matt Arsenault had one fourth-place and one fifth-place finish with a top time of 18.16. Central/Logan’s Zach Adams also posted one fourth-place performance with an 18.14.

Alyssa Raven, an independent skier, won all three of the girls giant slaloms. She completed the first race in 17.77 seconds and followed it with runs of 17.46 and 17.68.

A/O/WS’s Brynn Grabowski was second in the first (18.06) and second (18.83) races. Magnolia Sheehan, another independent entrant, was second in the third (19.58). Sheehan also had fourth- and fifth-place finishes in the first two races with her runner-up run as her fastest.

A/O/WS’s Elis Myre was third in all three races with a best time of 19.34 in the first. Independent skier Petra Sederstrom was fourth in the second race (19.89), and independent skier Evelyn Bruns fourth in the third (20.0). A/O/WS’s Ella Tepp also broke 20 seconds with a fifth-place showing in the first race (19.93).

A/O/WS’s Bodie Callaway, the defending state champion, swept through the snowboarding competition with three victories — all over overall runner-up teammate William Bakkestuen. Callaway posted times of 22.1, 21.39 and 20.68. Bakkestuen was second in all three with respective times of 28.49, 26.32 and 25.66.

A/O/ WS’s Carter Fortun was third in the second and third races with respective times of 28.81 and 29.22 after opening with a fourth-place finish and time of 29.82. A/O/WS’s Braxton Wiczek was third in the first race (29.13) and fourth in the second (29.78) and third (29.44).

A/O/WS’s London Vanderhorst won all three girls snowboard races and posted times of 26.29, 23.88 and 24.12. Teammate Tennysen Makepeace was second in all three with times of 29.02, 27.25 and 26.61, and Central/Logan’s Avah Connaughty was third in all three with runs of 30.28, 29.75 and 29.76.
