GALESVILLE — Senior Peyton Peterson and junior Jakai Ayed both won two events to lead the Holmen High School boys and girls track and field teams at the G-E-T Pentangular on Friday.
Peterson won the 200-meter dash in 23.23 seconds and added a victory in the high jump by clearing 6 feet. He also placed second in the 100 (11.43).
Ayed won the 110 hurdles (15.68) and 300 hurdles (41.51).
Other winners for Holmen’s boys included senior Ryland Eickhoff (long jump, 18-7), senior Jack Barth (triple jump, 39-7) and junior Grant Bires (pole vault, 11-6).
Seniors Alivia Wickstrom and Lydia Lazarescu won one event and placed second in another to lead Holmen’s girls.
Wickstrom won the 100 hurdles (17.28) and was runner-up in the 300 hurdles (49.96), while Lazarescu won the 200 (12.61) and was runner-up in the long jump (15-0).
Senior Brenna Schmidt also won the discus (116-2) and junior Sophia Jacobson the high jump (4-8).
Holmen’s girls also won the 400 relay (1:03.9), and the boys and girls teamed up to win the mixed 1,600 relay (3:56.42).
West Salem’s girls won five events and its boys four.
Senior Olivia Maki won the 300 hurdles (48.8), senior Maia Hutchens won the pole vault (10-0), and senior Madison Kaiser won the shot put (32-2) for the girls, who also won the 4,000 distance medley relay (13:56.52). Sophomore Anna Witte also won the 800 (2:33.07).
Senior Elliot Wolf (shot put, 48-9 3/4) and junior Isaiah Laack (discus, 152-7) won for West Salem’s boys, who also crossed the line first in the 800 sprint medley relay (1:45.51) and 400 relay (50.75).
