LA CRESCENT — The Onalaska/La Crosse co-op boys hockey team was pushed to overtime on Thursday, but Carter Johnson made sure the night ended well for the Hilltoppers.
Johnson, an Onalaska senior, scored with an assist from Onalaska senior Jackson Egan at 4 minutes, 43 seconds of overtime to give Onalaska/La Crosse a 1-0 victory over La Crescent-Hokah at the La Crescent Community Ice Arena.
The Hilltoppers (21-2) won their ninth game in a row and shut out its third opponent in a row as they prepare to host Oregon (13-10) at the OmniCenter on Friday to close out the regular season.
Johnson’s goal was his 18th, and Egan’s assist his 20th.
Central junior goaltender Parker Tripp stopped all 32 shots directed his way to complete a third straight shutout and his ninth shutout of the season.
The Hilltoppers have allowed four goals in their past seven games.

Caledonia/Houston 31, St. Charles 29
CALEDONIA — The third-seeded Warriors qualified for the semifinal round of the 1A team section tournament with a 31-29 victory over sixth-seeded and visiting St. Charles.
Caledonia/Houston trailed 29-28 heading to the final match, and sophomore Rae’Shaun Smith (6-15) gave them the dual victory with a 2-0 decision over Preston Dahl (18-16) at 285 points. Cooper Allen (25-10) drew a forfeit at 215 to set up the final match as the one for all the marbles.
Senior Aiden Burns (25-8) won by pin at 114, and senior Will Allen (34-2) did the same at 172 for the Warriors, who also received a major decision from eighth-grader Kiptyn Meiners (24-12) at 107 and decisions from eighth-grader Nolan Conway (9-21, 127) and senior Hunter Frank (10-19, 133).
The Warriors face off with second-seeded Goodhue in Saturday’s 11 a.m. semifinal at the Rochester Mayo Civic Center. Semifinal winners — top-seeded Chatfield and fourth-seeded Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson meet in the other — wrestle for the championship at 1 p.m.
