GALESVILLE — The Holmen High School boys wrestling team continued its local dominance this season with a 41-33 nonconference dual victory over G-E-T/Melrose-Mindoro on Tuesday in Galesville.

The Vikings, who are ranked second in Division 1 by Wisconsin Grappler, won eight of the first 11 matches and secured at least one bonus point in each of them.

Holmen built a 41-16 lead after junior Colin Griffin (26-15) scored a 13-4 major decision over sophomore Merek Windsor (24-15) at 175 pounds in a dual that began at 106. The Red Hawks are ranked seventh in Division 2 and beat sixth-ranked West Salem/Bangor in a big Coulee Conference dual last week.

The Vikings also beat Aquinas — ranked first in Division 3 — last week.

The first big individual matchup came at 120 pounds, and Holmen sophomore Rex Lancaster (39-4) beat senior Koda Purney (29-10) by technical fall in 3 minutes, 50 seconds to give Holmen a 16-0 lead. Junior teammate Brock Needham (42-5) followed that up with a technical fall in 3:37 against senior Gunnar Kremer (27-7) at 126 for a 21-0 advantage.

Holmen sophomore Nathan Henderson (31-2) handed sophomore Jace Anderson (23-9) another technical fall in 5:42 at 138 to follow up a pin for G-E-T/Melrose-Mindoro senior Colton Koss (30-9) over sophomore Olie Strasser (27-13) at 132, and G-E-T/Melrose-Mindoro junior Brody Banse (30-7) won by technical fall over sophomore Sawyer Stetter (24-15) at 144 to get the Titans within 26-11.

Holmen senior AJ Alesch (40-7) needed just 1:46 to end a 165-pound match against freshman Lachlan Daffinson (14-4) via technical fall.

Juniors Braden Peterson (18-4, 190 pounds) and Aaron Dunigan (33-4, 215) and sophomore Brock Kaz (27-7, 285) finished the dual with individual victories for the Titans. Kaz pinned senior Jagger Jepson (33-10) in 2:22, while Peterson won by technical fall and Dunigan by pin.
