ONALASKA — The Onalaska/La Crosse co-op boys hockey team got back on the winning track with an overtime goal that beat Madison Memorial 4-3 at the OmniCenter on Tuesday.
The Hilltoppers (5-1), who lost for the first time this season on Monday, scored 1 minute, 26 seconds into overtime after the Spartans (3-5) scored the final two goals of the third period to tie the game.
Onalaska senior Carter Johnson scored the winner on a shot set up by Onalaska freshmen Connor Fecht and Zach Marso. The goal is Johnson’s fifth of the season and the assists the first for Fecht and Marso.
Onalaska senior Jackson Egan, Central junior Laim Branson and Central senior Logan Sauter also scored for the Hilltoppers. Egan’s goal tied the game at 1 in the first, Branson’s pushed the lead to 2-1 in the second, and Sauter’s gave Onalaska a 3-1 lead in the third.
Branson and Onalaska junior Grayson Andel assisted on the first goal, Onalaska sophomore Rylan Tomashek and Sauter assisted on the second goal, and Branson and Egan assisted on the third.
Central junior goaltender Parker Tripp posted 26 saves in the victory.
