LA CROSSE — The Holmen High School volleyball team put the final touch on an unbeaten regular season and MVC championship with a 25-7, 25-13, 25-8 victory over Logan at the Steve Hole Field House on Thursday.
The Vikings (30-0 overall, 12-0 MVC) dominated all three sets to complete a season sweep of the Rangers and the rest of their schedule.
Senior Charley Casey had a team-high nine kills and added 10 digs and three service aces for Holmen, which is ranked sixth in Division 1 by the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association.
Senior Makenna McHugh led the Viking in assists (20), and senior Macy Kline recorded a team-high 12 digs.
Senior Sadie Mayer added 17 assists and a team-high four aces, while senior Hadley Teff and junior Chloe Jones added eight and seven kills, respectively.
The Rangers (3-17, 0-12) were led by junior Lily Dettwiler’s six kills, junior Norah Keller’s eighth assists and four digs and junior Adelade Sprain’s team-high 13 digs.
West Salem 3, Black River Falls 0
BLACK RIVER FALLS — The Panthers (24-7, 10-2) kept the Coulee Conference championship to themselves with a 25-12, 25-17, 25-11 victory over the Tigers.
West Salem began the day with a share of the title, then shut out second-place Onalaska Luther and Westby from the chance to complete the tie by sweeping Black River Falls.
Senior Baylee Faucett had seven kills and senior Josie Brudos six to lead the Panthers. Freshman Kensley Skifton had seven blocks for West Salem, which closed out its regular season by winning four matches in a row and six of its last seven.
Caledonia 3, Byron 0
CALEDONIA — The Warriors (23-5), who are ranked fourth in Class AA by the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association, beat the visiting Bears 25-18, 25-16, 25-18 to close out the regular season.
Junior Elsa Blum had 13 kills, 10 digs and three aces for Caledonia, which won the Three Rivers Conference with a 10-0 record. Freshman Ashlyn Reinhart added nine kills to go with 12 digs, two aces and a block.
Junior Avery Augedahl had 31 assists and 10 digs to go with a block, while junior Paizley Lange contributed 16 digs with three kills and two aces.
Senior Kenzie King and junior Adrienne Lange had four kills each and combined for 6.5 blocks.
The Warriors have the top seed for the upcoming MSHSL tournament series and will host either Lake City or Blooming Prairie on Oct. 23.
Onalaska 3, Sparta 0
SPARTA — The Hilltoppers (19-9, 8-4) finished in a tie for second place in the MVC by beating the Spartans 25-17, 25-23, 25-13.
Senior Bella Malecek had 11 kills, and junior Natalie Marso added 10. Sophomore McKenzie Bauer led Onalaska with 12 digs, and junior Lauren Pica had a team-high 16 assists.
Freshman Isabella Eckstein added 15 assists and six digs for the Hilltoppers.
Aquinas 3, Tomah 2
LA CROSSE — The Blugolds (14-14, 8-4) managed to tie Onalaska for second place in the conference after holding off the Timberwolves 18-25, 25-15, 25-16, 17-25, 15-10 at the Reinhart Athletic Complex.
Senior Sammy Davis threw down 30 kills to go with 13 digs and three blocks for Aquinas, which also received nine kills, seven blocks and six digs from senior Kiersten Elskamp.
Junior Adi Bezemek had a team-high 46 assists and added 13 digs, one block and once ace.
Onalaska Luther 3, Viroqua 0
ONALASKA — The Knights (17-10, 9-3) gave themselves a share of second place in the Coulee by sweeping the visiting Blackhawks 26-24, 27-25, 25-17.
Sophomore Audrey Clark had a team-high 13 kills, while sophomore Cara Unke added 10 and senior Kayla Schiebel nine. Schiebel led Luther with 11 blocks.
Junior Addie Schaper had a team-high 37 assists and added 15 digs to go with three aces, while senior Kamryn Anderson recorded a team-high 22 digs. Sophomore Carsyn Krause had 15 digs, and senior Marlie Krause added 10. Sophomore Tessa Gloede had six kills and four blocks for the Knights.
Blair-Taylor 3, Melrose-Mindoro 0
BLAIR — The Wildcats (15-8, 8-1 Dairyland) swept the Mustangs (10-16, 5-5) by scores of 25-11, 25-16, 25-16.
