WAUKESHA — Nathan Ivens swam qualified as the 22nd-fastest Division 1 50-yard freestyler for the WIAA swimming and diving championships at the Waukesha South Natatorium on Saturday.
The Logan/Central senior swam in Lane 1 and in the first of three heats and blew his qualifying time out of the water by completing the race in 21.65 seconds to earn 12th place on Saturday. Ivens cut .4 seconds from his sectional time and jumped 10 spots for the final standings.
Ivens also finished 18th in the 100 freestyle (48.01) after cutting .64 seconds from his qualifying time.
Senior teammate Daniel Lenz also qualified for the co-op and swam about a half-second slower than his qualifying time to finish 24th in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.17).
