RUSHFORD — Senior running back Bodie Knutson scored in overtime to help the Caledonia High School football team open its season with a 25-18 victory over Rushford-Peterson on Friday.

The Warriors (1-0) came back from an 18-10 deficit and scored the final two touchdowns to beat the Trojans (0-1) and gain revenge for a loss to them in the first game of last season.

Knutson rushed for a team-high 74 yards and broke the tie on a 1-yard run that was followed by an extra point from Sean Wallin.

Caledonia tied the game late in the fourth quarter when junior Cooper Allen scored from the 1 to cut its deficit to two points. Knutson tied the game with the two-point conversion run.

Junior Grant King completed just 9 of 21 passes for 63 yards, but one of those passes was a 29-yard touchdown throw to Tyson Ginther to give the Warriors a 10-6 lead in the second quarter Ginther wound up with three catches for 50 yards.

Wallin also kicked a 25-yard field goal in the first quarter, and Jacob Klug and Jayven Ross each recorded an interception.

LA CRESCENT — The Ramblers pulled away from a 14-6 halftime lead for a victory at Earl Seaton Field.

Cotter began to pull away with two third-quarter touchdowns, and La Crescent-Hokah didn’t have the answer to staying in the game.

Senior A’Jaydis Patschull got the Lancers on the board with a 7-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Maverick Moor to get them within 14-6 in the second quarter.

The Ramblers then scored the next 18 points before Moor connected with sophomore Elliot Plzak on a 52-yard scoring pass in the fourth quarter.

Moor was La Crescent-Hokah’s top rusher with 9 carries for 31 yards, and he completed 10 of 17 passes for 115 yards, the two touchdowns and one interception. Plzak had two catches for 63 yards.

The Lancers allowed 421 total yards and weren’t able to capitalize on three recovered fumbles.
