LA CROSSE — Senior Becka Mohr and juniors Camryn Moss and Ella Leemkuil all finished among the top 12 individuals to lead the Onalaska High School girls golf team to second place in an MVC meet at Forest Hills Golf Course on Tuesday.
Mohr shot a 22-over-par 94 to lead the Hilltoppers to a team score of 414 that trailed Tomah’s winning score of 357 and clipped third-place Holmen (415) by one stroke. Mohr highlighted her day with a birdie on No. 18.
Moss shot a 103 and placed 11th, while Leemkuil shot a 106 and placed 12th. Junior Taylor Gretebeck shot a 111 that placed her 15th for Onalaska’s final scoring round.
The Hilltoppers played their first match without low-scoring junior Finley Schams, who recently transferred to Aquinas and is playing junior varsity for the Blugolds due to transfer policies.
The third-place Vikings were led by senior Emily Napiecek, whose 93 placed her in a tie for fifth place. Sophomore Serene Mather added a 99 and Kaylee Banse a 107, while senior Kaydence Roth and junior Paige Downing tied at 116.
Sparta, which finished fourth with a team score of 452, received a runner-up finish Laney Huntington. She shot an 87 and tied with Tomah’s Cadence Scholze for second behind Tomah medalist Camryn Eitschele (86).
Huntington highlighted her round with birdies at No. 3 and No. 14.
The Spartans also received scoring rounds from sophomore Ella Melby (117), senior Ali Solberg (119) and sophomore Kaylee Becker (129).
Aquinas was fifth at 487, and Central/Logan had an incomplete team.
Senior Gabriella Stratman shot a 109 to lead the Blugolds, while junior Sophie Bisek added a 122, junior Ceci Manson a 124 and sophomore Liv Small a 132.
Central/Logan senior Abby Wurm placed 10th individually with a 100. Junior Anja Johnson had a 119 and junior Sofia Cedergren a 120.
