TOMAH — The Onalaska High School girls golf team placed second in the second MVC meet of the season Wednesday at Hiawatha Golf Club.
The Hilltoppers had junior Finley Schams and senior Becka Mohr tied for fifth place individually on the way to a team score of 387. Onalaska was beaten by Tomah (345) and finished comfortably ahead of third-place Holmen (403).
Sparta was fourth (442), Central/Logan fifth (470) and Aquinas incomplete.
Schams and Mohr shot 19-over-par 91s and were nine shots behind Tomah senior Camryn Eirschele, who was medalist at 10-over 82. Junior Camryn Moss was 10th and shot a 98 for Onalaska, and junior teammate Ella Leemkuil added a 107.
The Vikings were led by seventh-place sophomore Serena Mather, who fired a 94. Junior Kaylee Banse was 11th at 101, senior Emily Napiecek 12th at 102, and senior Kaydence Roth and junior Paige Downing both shot 106 and finished in a tie for 15th place.
Sophomore Laney Huntington shot a 94 to tie Mather for seventh place and lead the Spartans. Senior Sam Schaitel added a 108, sophomore Kaylee Becker a 119 and senior Ali Solberg a 121.
Senior Abby Wurm shot a 102 for Central/Logan’s low round and that put her in a tie for 12th place. Juniors Sofia Cedergren and Anja Johnson shot 113s, and sophomore Cecelia Arendt had a 142.
The Blugolds had a 104 from senior Gabriella Stratman (tied for 14th), a 123 from junior Sophie Bisek and a 138 from junior Ceci Manson.
