HOLMEN — The Holmen High School girls golf team placed fourth in the Viking Classic at Drugan’s Castle Mound on Tuesday.
The Vikings finished with a team score of 369 in a meet won by Tomah’s 337. Prescott was second (349) and Tomah’s second team third (357).
Holmen was led by junior Serene Mather and her 14-over-par 85. Mather had birdies at No. 3 and No. 16 and scored par on six other holes to place fifth individually.
Prescott’s Macy Reiter was meet medalist with a 7-over 78.
Senior Emily Napiecek shot a 90, junior Kaylee Banse a 91 and junior Paige Downing a 103 to give Holmen its remaining scoring cards. Banse eagled No. 7.
Onalaska placed fifth with a 385, Sparta was eighth with a 449, Central/Logan was 10th with a 460, and Aquinas was 11th with a 507.
The Hilltoppers were led by junior Finley Schams (89) in 10th place individually and senior Becka Mohr (90) in 12th. Junior Camryn Moss added a 100 and junior Ella Leemkuil a 106 for Onalaska.
The Spartans had two players — sophomore Laney Huntington and senior Sam Schaitel — in a tie for 19th place individual at 95, and Huntington also eagled No. 7. Sophomore Kaylee Becker shot a 124 and senior Ali Solberg a 135 for Sparta.
Central/Logan received a team-best 100 from senior Emily Wurn, a 108 from Sofia Cedergren, a 116 from junior Anja Johnson and a 136 from sophomore Cecelia Arendt.
Aquinas was led by freshman Payton Sherrill’s 108 and received a 109 from senior Gabriella Stratman, a 135 from Liv Small and a 155 from freshman Harley Wight.
