MENOMONIE — The La Crosse co-op girls swim team kicked off the season with a fourth-place finish in a seven-team field at the Menomonie Invitational on Saturday.
The team, which includes swimmers from Central, Logan and West Salem, won one event and placed second in three others on the way to 314 points. Eau Claire North won with 498, and Medford was second with 394.
The local co-op posted its victory in the 200-yard butterfly relay with its time of 2 minutes, 2.12 seconds. Lily Wolf, Annika Vianden, Finley Thompson and Addy Steedle swam with that team.
Julia Harrison, Rozlyn Swenson, Maggie Bratsch and Breeley O’Donnell teamed up for a runner-up finish in the 200 freestyle relay with their time of 2:04.93.
Breeley O’Donnell, Kiley O’Donnell, Harrison and Thompson were second in the 200 backstroke relay (2:13.5), and Thompson, Wolf, Bratsch and Ellin Bemis finished second in the 100 freestyle relay (57.07).
