SPARTA — The Holmen and Onalaska high school girls golf teams tied for fourth place in the Joanie O. Invitational at River Run Golf Course on Wednesday.
The Vikings and Hilltoppers each shot 407, which left them behind Tomah 1 (346), Tomah 2 (374) and Stevens Point (390). Sparta was seventh with a score of 449.
Holmen junior Kaylee Banse was the lowest local golfer with her ninth-place finish and score of 22-over-par 94. She parred three hoes on the front nine while shooting a 9-over 36.
The Vikings also received a 16th-place finish from sophomore Serene Mather with 97. Senior Emily Napiecek added a 102 and senior Kadence Roth a 114.
Onalaska was led by juniors Finley Schams and senior Camryn Moss, who tied for 13th places with 96s. Moss parred five holes and had a 48 on both the front and back nine.
Senior Becka Mohr shot a 98 — 17th overall — and junior Ella Leemkuil a 117 to round out the scoring cards for the Hilltoppers.
Sparta sophomore Laney Huntington was part of the tie for 13th place with Schams and Moss at 96. Her card included two pars and 11 bogeys.
Senior Sam Schaitel (107), sophomore Ella Melby (109) and sophomore Kaylee Becker (137) also had scoring rounds for the Spartans.
Central/Logan had an incomplete team and received its low round of 108 from senior Abby Wurm. Junior Sofia Cedergren shot a 118 and junior Anja Johnson a 125.
