Girls golf: Schams places second to help Onalaska finish third at Trempealeau Mountain

TREMPEALEAU — The Onalaska High School girls golf team finished third with a score of 414 at the Trempealeau Mountain Invitational on Tuesday.

The Hilltoppers finished behind Tomah’s first team (351) and Tomah’s second team (375) behind a second-place finish from junior Finley Schams, who shot a 14-over-ar 14 and was the only non-Tomah golfer among the top nine individuals.

Schams shot a 5-over 36 on the back nine with the help of three parred holes and a birdie at No. 17. She also birdied No. 8 and finished one shot behind medalist Camryn Eirschele of Tomah.

Onalaska teammate Becka Mohr, a senior, tied for 10th place with a 93 that included a birdie on No. 15. Junior Camryn Ross and junior Ella Leemkuil also carded scoring rounds for the Hilltoppers with a 117 and 119, respectively.

Aquinas and Central/Logan competed with incomplete lineups, and Central/Logan senior Abby Wurm led those teams with a 107 that was good for a share of 18th place.

Central/Logan also received a 119 from junior Sofia Cedergren and a 133 from junior Anja Johnson.

The Blugolds were led by freshman Payton Sherrill’s 110 that placed her 20th and sophomore Mirachelle Wall’s 118. Senior Gabriella Stratman shot a 120.
