INDEPENDENCE — The Melrose-Mindoro High School girls track and field team won six events and scored 118 points to win the Independence Invitational on Thursday.
The Mustangs also received a third-place finish from their boys team, which finished with 86 points.
Junior Bristol Coats recorded victories in the 100-meter dash in 13.71 seconds, the 200 in 27.97 and the 300 hurdles in 50.05.
Junior Sheila Johnson won the 400 in 1:03.84, and the Mustangs won the 400 (59.3) and 800 (2:02.12) relays.
The boys team picked up three event victories.
Sophomore Arkaden Nielsen won the 300 hurdles (49.41), sophomore Isaak Christianson won the pole vault (10-6), and the team won the 800 relay (1:40.68).
