The Aquinas High School girls basketball team has earned a No. 1 seed in Division 3 for the upcoming WIAA tournament. Seedings were released on Sunday.

The Blugolds (21-2) are ranked fourth in this week’s Bound Wisconsin/Zaleski Sports media poll and have won nine straight games heading into their final regular-season game of the season against visiting Central (16-5) on Thursday.

Aquinas receives a first-round bye and will play either eighth-seeded Amherst (10-12) or ninth-seeded Westby (7-14) in a regional semifinal at the Reinhart Athletic Complex on Feb. 27.

West Salem (13-8) is seeded fifth in that same quarter of the bracket and opens with a quarterfinal at home against 12th-seeded Wautoma on Feb. 24. A win there moves the Panthers into a semifinal at fourth-seeded Viroqua (14-7) — those teams split during the regular season — on Feb. 27.

The RiverHawks were awarded a No. 2 seed in Division 2 and a quarterfinal bye. Central will host either seventh-seeded Sparta (12-10) or 10th-seeded Tomah (3-18) in a regional semifinal on Feb. 27.

Onalaska (16-6) is a No. 3 seed in Division 3 and hosts sixth-seeded River Falls (13-9) in a semifinal and possibly a regional final against Central to follow.

Logan (5-17) is seeded eighth and hosts ninth-seeded New Richmond (3-19) in a quarterfinal on Feb. 24.
Luther (14-8) is seeded second and Melrose-Mindoro (11-11) fifth in Division 4.

The Knights host either seventh-seeded Necedah (5-13) or 10th-seeded Nekoosa (4-17) in a semifinal on Feb. 27, and the Mustangs host 12th-seeded Montello (2-17) in a quarterfinal on Feb. 24 and play at No. 4 Fennimore (15-8) on Feb. 27 if they win.

Holmen (13-7) is seeded ninth in Division 1 and heads to eighth-seeded Hortonville (14-9) for a regional semifinal on Feb. 27.
