LA CROSSE — The Logan High School girls basketball team has needed a win like the one it collected on Monday for some time.

This season has been one of many highlights for the Rangers, but they made sure to secure one by making the opportunity arise against Viroqua at the Steve Hole Field House.

Logan trailed by 11 points with eight minutes remaining, but senior Kenna Streeck made three 3-pointers, and the Rangers converted in transition and made enough defensive stops to beat Viroqua 54-50.

Logan (5-15) recorded its first win over a team with the winning record and dropped the Blackhawks, who are a half-game out of first place in the Coulee Conference, to 13-6.

Streeck made four 3s and finished with 14 points for the Rangers, who were led by senior Lydia Mason’s 20. Mason scored 14 in the second half as Logan outscored Viroqua 37-23 after facing a 10-point deficit after the first half.

Senior Kaia DePaolo also scored 11 points for the Rangers, who have won two of their past four games and play at La Crescent-Hokah (8-16) on Tuesday.

Caledonia 63, Holmen 46

CALEDONIA — The Warriors (19-6) pulled away from an eight-point halftime lead and were led by a 34-point performance from senior Aubrie Klug.

Klug had 25 points in the first half and only looked at the basket a few times in the second half. Junior Jessica Stendel added 10 points and senior Nicole Banse added nine for Caledonia, which closes out its regular season by hosting Fillmore Central (13-11) on Thursday.

Senior Charley Casey scored 15 points to lead the Vikings (13-7) as their three-game winning streak came to a close.

Senior Macy Kline also scored 10 points for Holmen, which was within 35-27 after one half but trailed by double figures for nearly all of the second half after Klug opened it with a basket.
