ONALASKA — The Onalaska/La Crosse co-op boys hockey team heads to the final three games of the regular season with a seven-game winning streak after posting another shutout at the OmniCenter on Saturday.
The Hilltoppers (19-2) scored twice in each period to hand Baraboo/Portage a 6-0 nonconference defeat and record their third shutout of the past five games.
Central junior Liam Branson scored once in the first period and twice in the second for his third hat trick in four games. He has 21 goals this season and 12 during the current winning streak.
Onalaska sophomore Noah Witcik, Onalaska sophomore Rylan Tomashek and Logan junior Jesse Lycke also scored for Onalaska/La Crosse, which outshot Baraboo/Portage 60-12.
Jackson Egan, an Onalaska senior, had three assists to run his season total to 19. Owen Clark, Logan Sauter and Tomashek also had assists for the Hilltoppers.
Central junior Parker Tripp stopped all 12 Baraboo/Portage shots for his seventh shutout of the season.
West Bend West 5, Avalanche 3
ONALASKA — The Aquinas/Holmen co-op had a three-game winning streak stopped at the OmniCenter.
The Avalanche (12-11) allowed three goals in the third period after getting through the first two with a 2-2 tie.
The Bears scored twice in the first 9 minutes of the third period to break the 2-2 tie, and the Avalanche never caught up.
Holmen senior Jack Barth cut the deficit to 4-3 with an unassisted goal at 9:17 of the third before West Bend West scored on an empty net at 16:38 for the final margin of victory.
Holmen senior Cole Van Lin and Aquinas sophomore James Siegert also scored goals for the Avalanche. Siegert’s goal was his 20th of the season.
Sawyer Genz and Mikah Vail both had assists for Aquinas/Holmen, which outshot the Bears 35-22.
Menomonie 7, West Salem/Bangor 4
WEST SALEM — The Panthers (2-16-1) allowed three goals in the first period and never caught up at the Panther Den after posting a victory on Friday.
Senior Terryn Boland had one goal and two assists, senior Cade Donahue two goals and senior Coen Knutson one goal and one assist for West Salem/Bangor.
Berkley Brose, Aiden Hillyer and Kayden Tauscher also had an assist apiece for the Panthers, who scored twice in the third period after falling behind 6-2.
GIRLS
Superior 7, Coulee Region 1
WEST SALEM — The Cyclones (4-16-2) allowed at least two goals in each period at the Panther Den.
Coulee Region scored in the second period to get within 4-1. Holmen sophomore Sydney Cichosz scored with assists from Julia Hendrickson and Ava Ferguson at 5:39, but the Cyclones couldn’t find the net again.
