WEST SALEM — The Coulee Region co-op girls hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie with Janesville on Saturday at the Panther Den.
The teams scored about 2 minutes apart in the second period and went scoreless through two overtime periods of 13 minutes.
The Cyclones (3-11-2) tied the score at 1 when Sydney Cichosz, a sophomore from Holmen, scored with assists from Luther sophomore Julia Hendrickson and Holmen senior Jocelyn Johnson.
That goal followed one by Ava Kligora with 10:22 left in the second for the Bluebirds (5-10-2).
Bangor senior Brooke Borkenhagen and Holmen sophomore Paige Downing both had good shots at the goal in the first minute of overtime, but they were stopped. Holmen freshman Rylee Hoehn also had the puck next to the net for two quick shots in the closing seconds of the second overtime, but she wasn’t able to get much on them.
Holmen freshman Aria Chamberland also stopped a handful of Janesville shots when it skated with a player advantage in the second overtime. She finished the game with 48 saves.
BOYS
Onalaska/La Crosse 4, Beaver Dam 0
BEAVER DAM — The Hilltoppers scored at least once in every period, and Central junior Parker Tripp stopped 16 shots in another shutout.
Onalaska junior Grayson Andel and Central junior Liam Branson each had one goal and one assist for Onalaska/La Crosse (15-2), which scored three times on the power play in its third straight victory.
Onalaska senior Carter Johnson and Onalaska freshman Zach Marso also scored for the Hilltoppers. Alex Sammann, Noah Witcik and Jackson Egan also had assists for Onalaska/La Crosse.
The Hilltoppers have allowed nine goals over their past nine games with five shutouts during that span.
Avalanche 6, Shawano/Bonduel 3
ONALASKA — The Aquinas/Holmen co-op scored four times in the second period and twice in the third to win at the OmniCenter.
James Siegert, a sophomore from Aquinas, scored three goals and assisted on one for the Avalanche (10-10), who took the lead for good at 4-3 when Siegert’s second goal — assisted on by Holmen senior Jack Barth — at 14:40 of the second period.
Barth assisted on three goals and scored one, and Holmen senior Ayden Dirks and Holmen junior Weston Maier scored once for the Avalanche. Dirks, Maier and Sawyer Genz also had assists for the co-op.
Holmen sophomore Liam Collins played in goal and stopped 13 shots.
