ONALASKA — The Holmen High School boys wrestling team secured two MVC dual victories on Thursday with a 76-5 win over Tomah and a 66-10 win over Onalaska/Luther in a triangular hosted at Onalaska on Thursday.
The Hilltoppers, however, started their evening with a 54-30 victory over the Timberwolves, giving themselves a conference dual victory for the first time in 15 years, according to Onalaska/Luther coach Thomas Fortier.
Junior Brock Needham (34-4, 126 pounds) and senior Noah Henderson (23-8, 150) both recorded two pins for Holmen, which is ranked second in Division 1 by Wisconsin Grappler. Sophomore Rex Lancaster (32-3, 120) won by technical fall and pin.
West Salem/Bangor 48, Sparta 33
SPARTA — The Catbirds — ranked fourth in Division 2 by Wisconsin Grappler — finished five matches by pin in a dual victory over the Spartans.
Sparta won the first three matches before a forfeit and Teghan Moore (31-5) pin at 132 got West Salem/Bangor within 17-12. Two more Sparta pins followed before the Catbirds found their groove.
Jarett Plomedahl (23-8, 150), Mason Chambers (31-3, 157), Justice Elam (28-9, 175) and Caden Anderson (30-4, 190) all recorded pins to give West Salem/Bangor a 36-33 lead with just two matches remaining. Sparta had to forfeit both.

VIROQUA — The Titans — ranked sixth in Division 2 by Wisconsin Grappler — didn’t lose a match in a Coulee Conference triangular in Viroqua.
Senior Gunnar Kremer (19-5, 126), sophomore Jace Anderson (18-7, 138), junior Brody Banse (25-6, 144), senior Jayce Stetzer (26-5, 157) and junior Braden Peterson (11-1, 175) all pinned both of their opponents for G-E-T/Melrose-Mindoro.
