LA CROSSE — The Aquinas co-op boys ski and girls snowboard teams registered sweeps in giant slalom events at Mt. La Crosse on Wednesday.
The team, which also consists of skiers and snowboarders from Onalaska, West Salem and Luther, scored 15 points in both boys ski events to beat Central/Logan 15-36 and 15-34.
Jonathon Gehrke was the individual winner in both events with a time of 18.37 seconds in the first run and 18.31 in the second for the team champions.
Cole Hasburgh of Central/Logan was runner-up in both with times of 18.48 and 18.41, and Jackson Dahl from the Aquinas co-op was third in both with times of 18.97 and 18.55.
The Aquinas co-op beat Central/Logan 9-14 and 8-15 in the girls snowboard competitions.
AOWSL’s Avah Connaughty won the first run with a 27.3 and was second in the second run at 26.66. Central/Logan’s London Vanderhorst won he second run in 25.32 and was fourth in the first at 36.19.
AOWSL’s Jacee Erickson was second in the first run at 29.64 and third in the second at 28.21.
The Northern team won both if the girls ski races with 13 points in the first run and 14 in the second. AOWSL was second in both and Central/Logan third.
Northern’s Alyssa Raven won the first giant slalom with a time of 19.25 and was second in the next at 19.21.
AOWSL’s Brynn Grabowski, who was fifth in the first run (19.64) won the second in 19.2. Northern’s Julia McBride was third in both with times of 19.51 and 19.59.
Central/Logan beat AOWSL 8-13 and 9-12 in the boys snowboard races, and the individual championships were split.
Central/Logan teammates Wesley Olson and Charles Head each won once. Olson won the first in 27.06 and was second in the second at 27.37, and Head won the second (27.13) and was runner-up in the first (27.66). AOWSL’s Ryan Nummerdor Robles was third in both with times of 27.91 and 27.64.
