Saturday wrestling: Holmen wins at Ithaca/Weston, Onalaska/Luther wins at Hillsboro

CAZENOVIA — The Holmen High School boys wrestling team crowned five bracket champions on the way to winning the championship at the Ithaca/Weston Invitational on Saturday.

The Vikings — ranked second in Division 1 by Wisconsin Grappler — had individual winners in freshman Brendan Henderson (113 pounds), sophomore Rex Lancaster (120), junior Brock Needham (126), sophomore Olie Strasser (132) and senior AJ Alesch (157) on their way to a team score of 301.5 points, which placed them comfortably ahead of second-place Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights (213).

Freshman Brady Needham (106), sophomore Maddox Waterhouse (132), sophomore Lucas McCormick (138), Josiah Kulmaczewski (157) and junior Colin Griffin (175) all placed second for the Vikings.

Tiger Invitational

HILLSBORO — The Onalaska/Luther co-op won the team championship with 202 points to beat second-place C-FC (169) and third-place Pittsville (141.5).

The Hilltoppers were led by winning performances from seniors Carter Beeler and Maximus Todd in their respective brackets at 175 and 190.

Sophomore Triston Hodson (113), junior Michael Campbell (132), junior Alexander Wuensch (157) and senior Grady Dunnum (215) all grabbed second-place finishes.

GIRLS
Warrior Challenge

WAUSAU — Holmen finished second to Milton with a team score of 149.

The Vikings were led by a third-place finish at 100 by junior Aini Anderson.

Senior Peyton Kratochvill (114), junior Kaytlynn Lambries (126) and senior Sophia Walter (235) were all seventh.

Westby Invitational

WESTBY — Freshman Sophia Anderson (107), senior Jolie Meyers (114) and freshman Sofia Whitacre (132) all won brackets for West Salem/Bangor, while freshman Raylyn Anderson (100) and junior Lily Kasinger (152) placed second.

Sophomore Mikaela Dixon won at 126 for G-E-T/Melrose-Mindoro.
