HOLMEN — The West Salem co-op gymnastics team established a season high with a score of 142.2, but Stevens Point walked out of the Bernie L. Ferry Fieldhouse on Saturday with the championship at the McLellan Invitational.
Holmen placed fifth with a score of 135.75.
Senior Oliva Maki had a team-best all-around of 35.375 for the Panthers, and that tied her for third place. Teammate Brielle Moore was sixth (35.125), Holmen’s Carly Nelson seventh (35.075) and West Salem’s Grace Olson eighth (34.825).
Senior Camdyn Lyga won the floor exercise (9.6) and tied for first place on the balance beam (9.5) to lead the Panthers in individual events, but the team cleaned up on points in the vault, where they had the top three finishers.
Maki won the vault with 9.225, and she was followed by teammates Moore (9.075) and Olson (9.0).
West Salem’s Hayden Rohde was fourth on the uneven bars (9.0), and Maki added a seventh-place finish on the floor (9.25).
Nelson placed fifth on the balance beam (9.2) and seventh on the bars (8.8) for the Vikings. Teammate Molly McBride was sixth in the floor (9.275).
Eau Claire Memorial co-op 138.75, Logan/Central 115.75
EAU CLAIRE — Elena Wagner led the local co-op with a third-place all-around performance that included a score of 33.45. Teammate Lauren Domroese was sixth at 30.025.
Wagner won the floor exercise with an 8.9 and was third on the vault with an 8.6. She was also fifth on the uneven bars (8.25).
Domroese highlighted her day with an 8.025 on the floor exercise. That was good for sixth place.
