Saturday gymnastics: Maki second all-around as West Salem co-op wins in Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — The West Salem co-op gymnastics team picked a victory with a team score of 140.325 at the Charlie Martin Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday.

The Panthers beat second-place Marshfield (135.975) and third-place Oshkosh West (130.45) to win the seven-team competition.

Oliva Maki turned in a second-place finish in the all-around to lead the way. Her score of 35.05 was only beaten by Marshfield’s Jazlyn Kurth (35.3).

Teammate Grace Olson was also fifth all-around with 34.425.

Maki won the vault with a 9.3, was third on the floor exercise with a 9.025 and was fourth on the balance beam with an 8.875.

Olson was fifth on the vault with an 8.9, tied for fifth on the uneven bars with an 8.2, tied for sixth on the floor exercise with an 8.9 and seventh on the balance beam with an 8.425.

West Salem’s Camdyn Lyga, a senior at Bangor, won the floor exercise with a 9.3 to go with a second-place finish on the balance beam (8.9) and sixth-place performance on the vault (8.8).

Candace Drury added a victory on the balance beam with a 9.125.

Hayden Rohde was second on the uneven bars with an 8.425, and Brielle Moore added a fourth-place finish on the vault with 9.0 and tied Olson for fifth on the uneven bars with an 8.2.
