MINNEAPOLIS — The Caledonia High School boys basketball team took down an unbeaten opponent Friday at the Target Center.
The Warriors used 27 points from sophomore guard Grant King to get past Pequot Lakes 59-55 in overtime.
King made five 3-pointers and scored all of Caledonia’s points after regulation to help his team improve to 6-2 after a loss to West Salem.
King made one of his 3s in the extra session, during which the Warriors held Pequot Lake to one point. Pequot Lakes was 7-0 but left with a 7-1 record after the loss. King pushed his per-game scoring average to 21.5.
Junior Jacoby Hammell scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half for Caledonia, which also received a 3-pointer and seven points from sophomore Colin Stemper.
Aquinas 77, Onalaska Luther 72
ONALASKA — The Blugolds (7-1), fifth in Division 3 in this week’s Bound Wisconsin/Zaleski Sports media poll, won their fourth straight game behind 33 points from senior Finley Strom and 21 from junior Calvin Bahr.
Strom scored 25 of his points in the first half, and Aquinas built a 15-point lead in each half before the Knights (4-4) came back to tie it up twice late in the second half.
Junior Logan Pierce had 24 points and senior Brody Greeno 18 for Luther.
